Interesting that the article was published on Western media (FT). Supports Western talking points. Puts responsibility on China for insecurity in the Korean Peninsula when the root cause of insecurity is US military presence in South Korea. Please, can we have better think tanks that don’t regurgitate Western talking points? 🤣

Not sure about what Washington can do to North Korea? Not a bad option for the region if Washington would engage with NK by abandoning its aggressive approach.

Interesting article and subject. Many thanks for sharing this.

At a time when the global economy is going into recession, with all the conflicts that are raging around the world, I agree that the Central Kingdom and the world's people would see their highest gain if military confrontations were curtailed, and replaced by economic cooperation. Rooting for the Central Kingdom's leadership to pursue these ideals. If military confrontations becomes unavoidable, prepare for it, and let it be due to the "other side" starting them. Then the moral high-ground is preserved, which I believe can be very significant in influencing public opinion in key swing chessboard pieces, such as SK society - Europe, Japan and India being the other major ones.

The fact that NK has nukes does not reflect well on the PRC.

I'm not saying it's their fault, but I never saw any actions designed to help, and I recall reading that China trained many of the scientists involved.
