I feel it is a mistake to preserve existing jobs by restricting the use of AI. What we really want is for new jobs to be created which requires human input. If AI can make production more efficient by reducing labour input, we should do that but ensure that returns on capital are taxed. Tax revenues in turn can be employed to expand labour intensive sectors — eg in education, health, scientific research, the arts, sports etc. This way, human jobs gradually move away from capital intensive sectors to labour intensive sectors.

The point is not to preserve existing jobs but to create new job opportunities, where humans can genuinely thrive.
